A change in attitudes to hiring?
Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. The fast pace of change in the modern world of work means many HR departments can no longer predict the future nature of their workforces as easily as they may have done in the past. Due to this, trends in hiring are more likely to shift from skills and abilities to behaviours and attitudes.
The Ochre House Network think tank, and over 650 major employers including Aviva, GE Capital, Nokia, O2 and RWE npower, has concluded that organisations will need to attract and retain individuals who have 'future proof' skills and behaviors.
These skills include foresight, insight and analysis, innovation and agility, as well as capacity for change. Preferred behaviors are adaptability, enthusiasm, energy, and focus on delivery.
Good People's psychometric profiling tools are a useful barometer of these traits in the staff you already employ or are about to hire. And they confirm our longstanding observation that success is due less to ability than to will. In the end, the right attitude makes all the difference.
