Recruiters rethinking their strategies from Job Boards to Social Media

Good People @ Jan 21, 2011

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn...There are increasing signs that recruiters are rethinking. Instead of putting their vacancies on job boards, employers are more and more choosing to search for candidates themselves.

Many recruiters are reducing their use of online job boards (which generate lots of applications to go through) in favour of online networking sites like LinkedIn. With the large increase in job seekers more companies are hiring recruiters with headhunting experience rather than recruiters with experience dealing with paperwork.

And about 24% of companies plan to decrease their usage of online job boards, says a recent survey. What's more 80% of respondents said they plan to expand their use of alternative methods to online job-boards. One such method is using websites like Facebook. This does not mean that jobs will no longer appear on job boards. But rather companies will try to recruit someone from headhunting before they post the vacancy on any third-party websites.

Web sites like Facebook can be very useful tools in helping you gain employment but it can also hinder you. Companies will look for you on social media websites and if the content shows you in an unprofessional manner you are less likely to be hired. So, a consistent theme these days, take care with the image you wish to project.
